The Cockerel is the unofficial symbol of France as a nation also
representing hope and faith. The cockerel also is a play on words in
Latin between Galus, meaning an inhabitant of Gaul and Gallus, meaning
rooster/cockerel.
One of my most favorite pair of skis is Rossignol, a French ski company,
has a Cockerel as its logo
MA -stands for Marie Antoinette, the last queen before the French
Revolution.
