OBX isn‘t an actual airport but a region that is off the coast of Virginia,
and North Carolina. The area is made up of hundreds of small barrier
islands off the coast of the aforementioned states.
The horse representing the wild Spanish mustangs which are part of the
outer banks legend. Legend has it that they are descendants of
survivors of a Spanish Galleon that sank on its was to Spain during a
storm in 1750
MSD – (Misty, Stormy & Drizzle) Renowned author Marguerite Henry
wrote Misty of Chincoteague, and Stormy-Misty‘s Foal depicting life on
the outer bank islands, the resilience of the islanders and the ponies they
love. Misty and Stormy were actual ponies… and as was Drizzle the
great grand daughter of Stormy
FD24 – Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Dept, founded in 1924, represents
the many good qualities of this region. Pony Penning conducted by the
CVFD every July to auction off the foals which raise money for the
department and controls over population of the ponies.
Pink and Orange represent some of the beautiful sunsets one can
experience in the Outer Banks region
The Yellow and Blue checks represent the colors of the Chincoteague
Volunteer Fire Department
